Engage with Hernest
Engagement is intentional, capacity-based, and depth-oriented.
We welcome
Invitations
Hernest is operating at the edge of an emerging field—one that is still being observed, named, tested, and built in real time.
Because of this novelty, engagement with Hernest is intentional, capacity-based, and depth-oriented. Not everything is immediately accessible.
Please read the sections below carefully.
1. Research & Donor Funding
Supporting the work
Hernest accepts research and donor funding in support of research programs, framework and methodology development, operating systems and infrastructure, and applied research within nonprofits in our portfolio.
This work requires time, iteration, and patience. As such, research funding is accepted only where scope, timing, and capacity align.
A Note On Expectations
Please do not project expectations, timelines, or outcomes onto our work. We may not yet have the infrastructure to meet the depth or pace you envision. You are welcome to ask what research capacity currently exists, what kinds of research funding we are positioned for, and what you are looking for in a research partner. We will always respond honestly.
2. Work With Us
Deep immersion pathways
Because Hernest is observing and shaping a new and evolving field, working with us requires deep immersion. This is not surface-level participation. It is not a quick learning experience. It is sustained engagement with uncertainty, systems, and real-world constraints.
Research Fellowships
Contributing to research directions and emerging frameworks through structured inquiry.
Apprenticeship Pathways
Learning emotional intelligence as a strategic advantage in work and leadership.
Training Programs
Structured learning that supports understanding, transfer, and responsible application.
Applied Work & Volunteering
Learning through contribution within nonprofits in our portfolio.
What Deep Immersion Means
Deep immersion at Hernest includes sitting with ambiguity, learning while frameworks are still forming, contributing to live systems (not finished products), and accepting that pace is shaped by the work, not by expectation. Due to the novelty of our work, onboarding is capacity-based, access may be phased or delayed, and not all pathways are open at all times. This does not reflect on skill or potential. It is a reality of infrastructure and supervision capacity.
